October Daye #6 (Rosa is Fangirlin')

Ashes of Honor (October Daye, #6)

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHshes of honor oh how long I have waited!

Just wanted to let to guys know that I was able to finish a book from one of my favorite Urban Fantasy Series just recently. That book is in fact the 6th book in the October Daye series by Seanan McGuire! I have loved this series for a very long time and I've been waiting for this particular installment ever since I put the last book down.

Let me just say that I was not disappointed in the least by the quality of work put forward by this talanted author and I just cant wait for the Chimes at midnight to be released next year sigh<, another looooooooooong wait....

So anywho's here is the synopsis of this book, although of course if you haven't read the the others this could be construed as a spoiler! Oh welly here goes Via Goodreads ofcourse;

It’s been almost a year since October “Toby” Daye averted a war, gave up a county, and suffered personal losses that have left her wishing for a good day’s sleep. She’s tried to focus on her responsibilities—training Quentin, upholding her position as Sylvester’s knight, and paying the bills—but she can’t help feeling like her world is crumbling around her, and her increasingly reckless behavior is beginning to worry even her staunchest supporters.

To make matters worse, Toby’s just been asked to find another missing child…only this time it’s the changeling daughter of her fellow knight, Etienne, who didn’t even know he was a father until the girl went missing. Her name is Chelsea. She’s a teleporter, like her father. She’s also the kind of changeling the old stories warn about, the ones with all the strength and none of the control. She’s opening doors that were never meant to be opened, releasing dangers that were sealed away centuries before—and there’s a good chance she could destroy Faerie if she isn’t stopped.

Now Toby must find Chelsea before time runs out, racing against an unknown deadline and through unknown worlds as she and her allies try to avert disaster. But danger is also stirring in the Court of Cats, and Tybalt may need Toby’s help with the biggest challenge he’s ever faced.

Toby thought the last year was bad. She has no idea.

Cant you just feel the excitement growing after reading that, yessss I know this is a bit of UF poison you do not want to miss out on so go get it as fast as you can! It's so lethal it might burn a hole in the bookshelves before you even get to it!!!!!

Book Review: Moon Dance (Vampire for Hire #1)

Title: Moon Dance
Series: Vampire for Hire #1
Author: JR Rain
Publisher: J.R. Rain via Stuart Agency
Genre: Paranormal/Urban Fantasy
Rating: 5 stars

Synopsis Courtesy of Goodreads:

Mother, wife, private investigator…vampire. Six years ago federal agent Samantha Moon was the perfect wife and mother, your typical soccer mom with the minivan and suburban home. Then the unthinkable happens, an attack that changes her life forever. And forever is a very long time for a vampire.

Now the world at large thinks Samantha has developed a rare skin disease, a disease which forces her to quit her day job and stay out of the light of the sun. Now working the night shift as a private investigator, Samantha is hired by Kingsley Fulcrum to investigate the murder attempt on his life, a horrific scene captured on TV and seen around the country. But as the case unfolds, Samantha discovers Kingsley isn’t exactly what he appears to be; after all, there is a reason why he survived five shots to the head.

My Review:

I’ll be perfectly honest…I didn’t know what to expect when I purchased the 6 book box set for the Vampire for Hire series.  I never used to really be into those private investigator type books, but this one had a paranormal twist and I couldn’t resist purchasing it.

Let me tell you something…this was the best investment I ever made.
I am going to review these books individually as I finish reading them.  This one that I am reviewing is called Moon Dance, and is Vampire for Hire #1.
Meet Samantha Moon…mother of 2 beautiful young children, an ex FBI agent who met the unfortunate fate of being attacked by a vampire.  She was forced to quit her day job because she was turned, and is now an private investigator…and one of the best I might add.

Cue her asshole husband (or now ex-husband), Danny Moon.  I’ll give him some credit for trying to be with a blood sucker in the beginning, but come on, did he really have to cheat on her and be such a douchebag? Ugh! I wanted to bitch slap that sucker!

I’m trying not to give too much away here, but long story short, things get sour between Danny and Samantha real quick, and well, you’ll have to see for yourself.

Cue Kingsley Fulcrum, a hottie werewolf who ends up being Samantha’s client.  Their relationship is quite complicated, let’s just leave it at that. But, I will tell you that I am certainly rooting for Kingsley and Samantha.

All in all, if you are looking for a great, action packed book with a lot of plot, then this is the book for you!  J.R. Rain does an excellent job with painting a perfect picture.  I devoured this book in about three days…I seriously could not put this book down!

Review: Embrace the dark by Caris Roane

Type of PP: Paranormal Romance
Released: Not until July 1st
Source: NetGalley
Maturity Level: Adult

Blurb: Gerrod the master of the Merhaine Realm is obsessed with Abigail. She mesmerises him in every way and he just can't stop noticing her, only she's human. Eventually they fall in love but sadly her humanity makes her an unacceptable mate. Now she must choose to either stay and become his blood rose or leave him and go back to her old life.

For me this was unfortunately another Paranormal Series about vampires, yes it was uniform and nothing that made me go YEA!!! was in here. I didn't become apart of this story like I did with her other books and so I don't have much to say about it :|

In the end it was an okay read even though it took me ages to get through, That may just be me and that is why I won't discourage you from reading this novella.

And now the rating: TOXIC

Posting Yay!! (by Rosa)

Hey guys!!!

What doing? (who can tell me which paranormal series that is from :D)

I am here once more to talk to you all about Paranormal Poison. I've always been a reader, when I could not understand words my mother said that I would read the pictures in my books. I've been a fan of fairy tales and teenage contemporary books for years. I'm sure you know what I mean , Mary Kate and Ashley, Nancy Drew Harley boys  Enid Blyton books and the list goes on.

I got into Paranormal at about sixteen when a friend of mine said "girl you ave to read this vampire series called House of Night". (What are you surprised it wasn't twilight? :D.) So I read the first book and I was like woa! that is some good stuff! I read  all the released books in a matter of weeks and I was really thankful that my friend had the foresight to buy the books as they came out!

After that I really got into the genre, and since then I've become and adult! And the best Paranormal Poison is the kind that you need to be 18 or older to consume ;). In my post What is your Paranormal Poison I tell you guys about my ultimate paranormal mix.

Honestly though that list dose not contain half the ingredients, they are so many to name! I read Paranormal Romances where there is a hero & heroine in every new book and I read Urban fantasies where I follow the life of one protagonist. If I had to chose out off all the UF's I've read my favourite protagonist I'd have to say Rachel Mariana Morgan from Kim Harrison's Hollows series and from  Jim Butchers Dresden Files series Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden.

You see what I did there :). Anywhos I know you are all wondering when this blog is going to take off. Well I am waiting for more people to join. COME BLOG WITH US, trust me do it now, because when we have enough people and you don't have a chance to join us you will feel left out.

OOOOOO I almost forgot!

I was going to post about the blog design.....When I first got the Idea for this blog, I went in search of the perfect blog template, Let me tell you it was not easy at all. When I found this one it wasn;t quite right so I modified it a teeny bit and lo you now have Paranormal Poison.

A fun fact about the layout. I like to think that the passed out bunny in the header has OD'd on Paranormal Poison! LOLZ :D

Hope you guys are having a great day!!

What makes up my Paranormal Poison? By Beth Ann Masarik

Hello everyone!  My name is Beth Ann Masarik, and I am one of the reviewers and contributors for this blog.  Rosa asked me, "What's my paranormal poison?"  After giving this a lot of thought, I've finally figured it out.  Are you guys ready for this?

My paranormal poison is:

Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead
The Nightworld by L.J. Smith
Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling
the Heven & Hell series by Cambria Hebert
The House of Night series by P.C and Kristin Cast.

As you can see, most of the books I read have to do with vampires and werewolves.  That's because I love a yummy vampire/werewolf romance.

Well, there you have it folks! That's my paranormal poison!
